NETHILI MEEN VADAI 

                About Nethili Vada

When you are bored of cooking ordinary fish fry and you want something different, then this is a must try recipe. It is a great side dish for rice with rasam. You can also have it as a snack.

Ingredients to make Nethili Vada / Anchovies Fritters


  • Nethili / Anchovy - Handful (deboned)
  • Coconut - 1/2 
  • Small onion - 10
  • Chilli powder - 1/4 tbsp
  • Curry Leaves- 2 string (optional)
  • Fennel- 1/4 tbsp
  • Oil to deep fry
  • salt as needed
  • Turmeric powder ~ a pinch

How to make Nethili Vada / Anchovies Fritters

    1. Clean the Anchovies and debone it.
    2. In a blender, grind the fennel seeds, cinnamon, red chilli, green chilli, salt ,shallots, ginger garlic paste and curry leaves to a coarse paste.
    3. Now, Open the lid and add the Anchovies and just give one pulse. Don't grind it to smooth paste.
    4. Transfer it to a bowl and mix it well.
    5. Make into small sized patties. Deep fry on both sides till it becomes golden brown in colour.
    6. Hot and flavorful vada is ready. Serve it with ketchup or as a side dish for meals.
